ArshaGokulam, Mysuru high school students participated in an engaging 8-Day Summer Science Workshop organized by the Mysore Science Foundation at Jnanodaya PU College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru in early April. The camp transformed science from textbooks into fun, hands-on, and real-life learning experiences!
Workshop Highlights:
Day 1 – Explored how motors work and even saw simple models in action
Day 2 – Learned about reflections, images, and 3D shapes like Platonic solids
Day 3 – Understood internal angles in polygons with easy-to-follow formulas
Day 4 – Conducted live chemistry experiments using oxygen and acids
Day 5 – Discovered the periodic table and chemical combinations
Day 6 – Studied parts of flowers and plants and their importance to life
Day 7 – Connected geometry (pentagons, hexagons) to real-world examples like honeycombs
Day 8 – Gained practical health and hygiene knowledge through group discussion
Day 9 – Enjoyed peaceful bird-watching and learned about nature conservation
Day 10 – Wrapped up with feedback, Q&A, and fun group reflections
What our children gained – A deeper love for science ; The joy of learning in teams ; Confidence in asking questions ; Better awareness of hygiene and health ; A sense of connection with nature
From bubbling reactions in chemistry to the peaceful joy of bird watching, the camp created lasting memories and meaningful learning.
Huge thanks to Mysore Science Foundation, the educators, and volunteers who guided our students with such patience and enthusiasm. We look forward to more such camps that help our children learn through exploration, questions, and fun!
